Breaking: Remote Evolutionists Discovered

A Cottage Industry Coming to an End

In recent years anthropologists have increasingly come to accept what seemed inevitable: there were no more evolutionists to be found. People groups who believe they arose spontaneously have always been a source of fascination. How could such a mythology propagate and persist in entire cultures? Naturally such findings were rare, and with the continuing education and outreach efforts, such bizarre beliefs became increasingly rare. “Gone are the days,” complains professor Charles Henzwich, “that one could count on finding at least one or two evolution-worshipping villages on a summer expedition to the outback.” That is why this week’s surprise announcement, by an international team, of a remote, undiscovered clan of evolutionists has academia buzzing and is giving Henzwich and his colleagues hope. “Perhaps mythologies just never go away,” Henzwich concluded with a sense of wonder.

  1. Instead of disparaging these poor primitive people and treating them as specimens for scientific research, I believe we should attempt to educate them; perhaps starting with the laws of logic- something cannot come from nothing, the created cannot be greater than the creator, etc. In this way maybe they will become "enlightened "

    1. Maybe we should forcibly remove their children and raise them in church run residential schools. That was so successful in Canada.

It was successful in Canada and gave a good education to kids otherwise from the boonies.
No more forced then any kids having to go to school.
in fact the education allowed them to complain , get money, for the civilization they otherwise would of had no place in if left alone in the bush.
      They owe canada.

    4. Robert,

"No more forced then (sic) any kids having to go to school."

I'm afraid that is simply wrong, Robert. Aboriginal children were for all intents and purposes forced into attending Residential Schools. I don't believe that each and every child was abused, but unfortunately many were. There are as well, however, some who believe they benefitted from the experience.

Overall, however, the whole scenario was a misguided attempt to force aboriginals to adopt a western civilisation mind-set and was bound to result in failure.

  2. Why trek to the outback to find evolution worshipping villages when such primitive cultures are easily accessible at the dirt-worshipping madrasas that we call universities?

    ahahahahaha...AHAHAHAHAHA...ahahahahaha...

  3. Robert, aboriginal children in residential school had almost the same mortality rate as Canadian soldiers dying in WWII. It was a situation where the church was complicit in abuse of children, both physical and sexual. It was a case of the church actively participating in forced conversions, something the church says that they don't do. It was a case where the church was an active participant in the willful attempt to destroy another culture.

So, can you tell me again why they should thank us?

  5. Darwin was without doubt a racist and was responsible for racism as far as I know. If you know any better please tell me.
    Galton was responsible for eugenics:
"Charles Darwin and his younger half-cousin Francis Galton. Although they had been on friendly terms as young men, and Darwin had in some ways been a role model for Galton, the two did not share major scientific interests until after the publication of Darwin's On the Origin of Species in 1859. That work precipitated a religious and philosophical crisis in Galton, which he gradually resolved after conceiving and developing the basic ideas of "hereditary genius" and eugenics." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19203140

      http://charles-darwin.classic-literature.co.uk/the-descent-of-man/ebook-page-105.asp
"...At some future period, not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilised races of man will almost certainly exterminate, and replace, the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes, as Professor Schaaffhausen has remarked (18. 'Anthropological Review,' April 1867, p. 236.), will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilised state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as a baboon, instead of as now between the negro or Australian and the gorilla."

"Darwin was without doubt a racist and was responsible for racism as far as I know."

I don't believe there is sound evidence to support the claim Darwin personally was a racist or promoted racist ideas. There is, however, no doubt those who were and are racists use his work to support their racial activities, Hitler and Nazi Germany among them.

    4. Hi Nic, how was skiing?

I agree, there is no evidence that Darwin was particularly racist. He was, however, a man of his times and would, by todays standards, be considered racist.

Being prejudiced is not an evil thing. However, continuing with that prejudice after being shown the evidence is just pure hatred.

Humans have always found reasons to justify their actions. Darwin's theory is no different. It was used to justify eugenics. The bible was used to justify the crusade and the inquisition. That doesn't mean that there is anything inherently wrong with Darwin's theory or with the Bible.

    5. Joe,

"Right, calling native Aussies and Africans "savages" isn't racist. Try it today and see what happens."

Darwin was a man of his time. It is not fair to take modern standards of conduct and speech and apply them to those long in the past. The term 'savages' did not carry the baggage in Darwin's day that it carries today.

      Delete
    6. Not every person of that time was a racist. And you have no idea what baggage the word "savage" carried back then.

  6. William,

"Humans have always found reasons to justify their actions."

That is so true. Many things and ideas which are good have been twisted to justify evil. Such is the sinful nature of man.

As for the ski trip, it was not the best we have ever taken due to a bunch of annoying little things. It was very cold the first couple of days but the snow conditions were good. As it turned out I did not ski much as I was having problems due to nerve damage in my right leg; a leftover from my bout with cancer a few years ago.

We are leaving on Sunday for another Jasper trip but I won't be skiing this trip either as I am recovering from a broken ankle I acquired on the last trip when I slipped in the parking lot.:(

Go ahead and laugh, everyone else is.:)

    1. Nic,
I sympathize with the pain that you must have had. But you must admit, there is a bit of humour to it. You survive the skiing unscathed but hurt yourself walking.

I have a similar story. When I take my dentures out I have that typical hockey player smile. When asked how I lost them I just say that I lost them on the ice. Being Canadian, people jump to the conclusion that it was do to hockey. The truth is, I was in the school yard in grade four sliding on the patch of ice with my hands in my pockets. Here is a safety tip: don't slide on ice with your hands in your pockets.

"But you must admit, there is a bit of humour to it."

    I agree, it's very funny.

Somehow I managed to play hockey for many years and not lose any teeth, though I took some nasty shots to the mouth from both pucks and elbows.

  8. Dear Nic and Will. I have reread the quotes I posted and I humbly have to retract my assertion about Darwin being a racist. Prejudice can surely cloud one's reason in the face of evidence. I think this is what is called bigotry! Mea Culpa! P.S. Will, I hope you find your dentures.

    1. Mad doc, the fact that you would admit that you were mistaken speaks very well for you. I hate to admit that I often dig in my heels far longer than I should when I am mistaken.

I never lost my dentures, but they are almost 35 years old. Come Monday Morning I will be done with them forever. Dental implants.

Thanks, mad doc. Too often people get dug in on their comments and are never willing to admit a mistake. It is really important to remember to separate what an individual said from what others say he said.

  9. I am sorry to dissapoint you and apologise for my poor attempt at humour, but I was being sarcastic.
How could you read Darwin's quote from The Descent of Man and not conclude he was racist. Through Galton and others this led to eugenics, a theory which spread throughout the Western world, not just in Europe but also in the US. It was the reason for all sorts of evil medical practices where some people were regarded as subhuman. This philosophy is becoming influential again today with the abortion "defective" babies sometimes because they are the "wrong" gender or have a cleft palate (look it up if you do't believe me). Julian Savalescu has plans to screen embryos to create the perfect person (and abort the others) and thinks this is morally good: https://philosophynow.org/issues/91/Moral_Enhancement
Evolution is an erroneous belief and has produced much evil fruit. However, people trapped in false belief systems mistakenly think that are doing good.

    1. Evolutionary Theory, as in Evolution by natural selection, common descent, and the differetional reproduction of genes, is PROFOUNDLY true. In order to reach such a conclusion, I would suggest reading something different than Cornelius's adorable little blog.

And here we are, with people thinking that the discoverer -not the creator- of evolution being racist somehow disproves the discovery. This is outright madness and hubris: no doubt stemmed by an inherent bias towards the unfaltering belief in a Jewish prophet. What?

Is Newtonian Mechanics untrue because Newton believed in Alchemy? Is the germ Theory of disease untrue because Mengele conducted immoral and unethical medical studies? Is Geocentrism true because Galileo, being a product of his times, was likely racist as well by today's standards?

Racism simply wasn't a thing one hundred years ago. Xenophobia was a natural instinct towards anybody different from you. Modern civilisation and globalisation is forcing humanity to think differently about these things. Great! It doesn't mean we need to single out Darwin and draw ridiculous conclusions from nothing more than a below the belt ad hominem.

      Hogwash.

    2. Evolution is nonsense, not because Darwin was a mediocre thinker and a racist (both of which are true), but because the combinatorial explosion kills it dead before it's even born. The theory is not just stupid, it is insanely so.

  10. Well, I should have figured that it was too good to last.

i have read that quote many times. The first part about the civilized races exterminating and replacing the savage races was merely a prediction. Not a judgement. And, sadly, it has more or less come true. Not the physical extermination, but definitely a cultural one.

The second part, which is very difficult to read, reflected the understanding of the differences between the races as [mis]understood by the western world at the time. In that respect, yes, Darwin was racist. But so was the Pope, government leaders, ministers, priests, judges, and pretty well all Caucasians in Europe and North America at the time. Do you honestly think that even someone like Lincoln wasn't as racist as Darwin.

By the standards of his day, Darwin was probably considered to be too progressive with respect to the differences between the races.
