Whitney Tilson Reaps What He Sows

Dumb Money

Whitney Tilson, who is certain that those who question evolution are “extremists” and “anti-intellectuals,” has made several investment mistakes in funds that he manages which have lagged badly in recent years. Now he is formulating new strategies and looking forward to better days. Perhaps he could begin by dropping the invective against those who don’t automatically agree with the non scientific mandate that the biological world spontaneously arose.

  1. Maybe he can get Kent Hovind to do his taxes.

  2. Wonder what he thinks about "Question Evolution Day" on February 12, Darwin's birthday? There are quite a few of us uniting to speak up and say that we believe in academic, professional and intellectual freedoms, and should be able to say that the evidence supports the Creator, not evolutionism.

    1. I think we all believe in academic, professional, and intellectual freedom. Question evolution as much as you like. To be consistent, however, you should be just as demanding when it comes to intelligent design/creationism.

I'm assuming that religious freedom is amongst those that you cherish. In other words, a Christian is free to believe in evolution and be considered just as good a Christian as one who rejects it?

      No, not even close.

IHS: "I think we all believe in academic, professional, and intellectual freedom."

      No, not even close.

I agree. Just look at the statement of faith that BIOLA University makes all its faculty sign in order to keep their jobs.

"Biola holds to the key doctrine of Biblical inerrancy, the idea that the original writings of the Bible were without error with regard to both theological and non-theological matters. The institution officially holds to the teaching of premillennial dispensationalism, and requires its faculty members to be in accord with this theological and cultural perspective. As a final guarantee of strict adherence to its theological worldview, the university requires every faculty member, when first hired and again upon application for tenure, to submit their understanding of and complete agreement with each item of the doctrinal and teaching statements to the Talbot School of Theology for evaluation."

      BIOLA theology

      Kinda speaks for itself.

    4. Ian H,

"In other words, a Christian is free to believe in evolution and be considered just as good a Christian as one who rejects it?"

      I would agree.

When you read this it is easy to see the irony in Hunter's oft-repeated signature-line "Religion drives science..."

Is there really any doubt that Dr. Hunter's scientific worldview is influenced by his religion? Indeed his employer requires it to be so!

Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, but let's stop pretending it isn't so.

Or does Dr. Hunter have academic freedom to disagree with the required Biola statement of faith? I suspect not.

  5. For evolutionists there is freedom to agree with them and nothing more.

A dangerous trend exists in western culture especially for the leftist elites to pigeon hole everyone who does not agree with them and label them as extremists. This is what dictators and tyrants do. Propagate the Big Lie, cover it up by saying, "what difference does it make", and label those that disagree as extremists.

Once you label them as extremists, you then call them dangerous, and finally send them to the Gulag for reeducation. So much for freedom.
